Description
Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is only 0.96 ha with vines age of 41 years. Average yield is 23 h/ha. Mazy-Chambertin rivals Clos de Bèze in its finesse. Opulent and powerful wine. Marked by subtle nuances of red fruits and liquorice.
The Mazy plot of the estate follows a nuanced slope along its length which extends from the bottom of the Route des Grands Crus to Chambertin Ruchottes at the top of the hill. Located in the continuity of the Clos de Bèze, it is obvious that the winemaking of this climate is older (was first named back in 1420). It is located on the entroque limestone of the lower Bajocian. A brown earth composes its soil where rock outcrops in the form of lava. Admirably protected from the north by the village, the Mazy-Chambertin is one of the most complex and subtle Grands Crus of Gevrey. Absolutely superb!
