Description
‘The Pip’ Red Blend is the first ever released red blend in 20 years since the first release of The Clendenen Family Vineyard label. Four varietals were chosen and each was aged for three years in a barrel. The long-term barrel ageing process resulted in a smooth and supple taste, making this wine excellent value. Grape(s): 37% Merlot, 30% Sangiovese, 25% Syrah, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon.
This masterful, dark red blend has an opulent nose of fresh cherries and spice that conceals its age. Leather, dark chocolate and truffle aromas emerge as the bouquet opens up. The broad flavour profile shows every type of cherry known: bitter, black, and even wild. The intensity is continuous from the first sip to bright finish - with just enough sexy suppleness for endless food pairings.
Who is Pip?
Pip was the best dog in the world and Jim Clendenen's canine buddy. There might be many other dogs in contention, but if you met Pip you would agree. She chased the ball and the Frisbee for hours, all while hiding between throws. In her imagination she was herdin’ something, a classic border collie. Pip was at the winery most days. It was hard to get visitors to pay attention to wine tasting when Pip was chasing everyone that wanted to throw the ball for her. We memorialized her with a line-up of wines for over a decade. The Pip wines are made to be delicious upon release.
